Through a strategic partnership with Cerberus Srl, the Italian specialist in plant-based cat litter, H. von Gimborn GmbH is complementing its proven bentonite expertise with plant-based production, thereby expanding the Biokat’s range.

Gimborn has acquired a majority stake in the company and is integrating Cerberus’s state-of-the-art production facility near Varese into its global production network, the company explains in a press release.

For 40 years, Biokat’s has stood for quality and innovation, with its core expertise lying in bentonite-based products manufactured in Kelheim, Germany. Whilst these natural clay cat litter products continue to form the heart of the brand, demand for plant-based alternatives is growing steadily, particularly across Europe, the manufacturer reports. This collaboration enables Gimborn to complement its established bentonite range with a robust plant-based offering and provide pet owners with a well-rounded selection.

ʻThis partnership is the first of its kind in our 171-year history,ʻ says Jordi Queralt, Gimborn’s Managing Director. Until now, Gimborn had relied on external suppliers for its plant-based range. This agreement changes that: the company will in future manufacture these technically advanced products itself at its Varese site.
