The brands “Tetra”, “8in 1” and “Furminator”, which belong to the American Spectrum Brands Group, and the pet food manufacturer Royal Canin have announced that they will not be exhibiting at the world-leading Interzoo fair in Nuremberg in 2014. “Participation would be purely of a representational nature, but shows of this size always involve a very high outlay in terms of staff, work and costs,” said Koord Janssen, director of marketing and innovation, explaining Tetra’s absence. The Interzoo budget is to be invested instead in existing customers.
The high investment costs are also one reason why Royal Canin will not be present at Interzoo. “We have invested a large amount of money in Interzoo in recent years. We have asked ourselves whether this investment goes down well with our partners in the pet supplies trade and is therefore justified,” said Steven Sagrodnik, responsible for sales & marketing POS at Royal Canin. The answer was ‘no’ and so the money is to be used instead targetedly for partners in the German pet supplies trade. “In spite of these considerations, we will of course be available at Interzoo for scheduled discussions, but not on the previous scale.” The company is also planning to hold a pet supplies retailers’ forum in April for its partners.
