Del Monte acquires Natural Balance Pet Foods

The US pet supplies sector is becoming increasingly concentrated. The latest development is the acquisition of super-premium food manufacturer Natural Balance Pet Food by Del Monte. Terms were not disclosed. The transaction, expected to be completed in mid-June, includes the stake held by San Francisco private equity firm VMG Partners.

Natural Balance Pet Foods was founded in 1989 by actor Dick Van Patten and company president Joey Herrick. The company is based in the Southern California community of Pacoima.
