Pet Food Firm Invests $2M in New Mexico Plant Expansion

Oct 16, 2018
Pet food producer Marty’s Meals plans to invest more than $2 million over the next decade to expand its storefront and manufacturing facility in Santa Fe, NM, a release from the New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD).

The state’s economic development agency said it plans to provide $175,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funding to assist Marty’s Meals’ project. About 11 new jobs will be created at the Santa Fe facility as a result of the expansion.

“This investment in Marty’s Meals by the state makes it possible to grow our business and at the same time leverage our commitment to the ‘Triple Bottom Line Plus’ mission we brought to market four years ago,” Sandy Bosben, the owner and founder of the pet food firm, said in a statement. “With it, we can expand partnerships with New Mexico farmers and ranchers who are committed to agricultural practices and protecting our planet; we can employ a growing workforce that benefits from good wages and benefits; we can contribute to New Mexico’s economic strength; we can expand to new markets.”

Marty’s Meals manufactures more than 30 varieties of raw and gently-cooked foods in fresh and frozen formats, lamb and bison jerky, and gluten-free treats for cats and dogs using non-GMO, certified organic ingredients.

The company was established in 2010 in Santa Fe and expanded to Boulder, CO in 2016.
