Helping families and pets live happily together
Radio Systems Corporation has created a global business founded on a simple, universal concept – that people are happiest when their pets are safe and well behaved.
The company, which markets its PetSafe brand products in 32 countries, is the world leader in electronic pet management solutions and pet doors. PetSafe electronic containment systems, remote training systems and bark control solutions use safe electronic correction to help owners train their pets to succeed as long-term family members.
"Nothing brings a family more joy than a well-behaved, well-adjusted pet that has bonded with its owners through temperament-appropriate training," say Randy Boyd, founder and chief executive officer of Radio Systems Corporation. "We are committed to offering the most humane, effective and high quality pet management solutions in the industry."
Founded in 1991 by Boyd in Knoxville, Tennessee USA, Radio Systems Corporation (RSC) employs 149 pet-loving professionals around the globe. PetSafe products are sold through an extensive retail network that includes most major pet and mass merchant chains in North America, Western Europe and portions of Asia and the Pacific Rim. Its products are also available through online retailers, at farm and home stores, and from catalogue and mail order sources.
Divisional Support is the Key to Global Success
RSC projects that international business will account for an ever increasing share of its future revenues.
"We believe that there is tremendous untapped potential to serve the global pet management market, which is already a significant component of our overall growth strategy," says Brad van der Veen, Director of International Sales for RSC.
The key to RSC's global success is the dedication of an entire division at its Knoxville headquarters to international product development, marketing and distribution. Employees in all of RSC's international offices are supported by this division and are in constant two-way communication about market intelligence.
"While other companies might be satisfied simply exporting their domestic products overseas, our approach is to customize products, sales, distribution and customer service to the unique cultures and practical needs of the countries we serve," says van der Veen.
Operations Around the Globe
To most efficiently serve markets worldwide, RSC maintains regional operations centers and associated salespeople in multiple countries.
In Canada, where it serves the majority of the pet management market, RSC has local warehousing, customer service, and shipping and handling facilities.
Employees in two European offices handle customer service and retailer support for Europe, while facilities in Holland support product shipping and handling for the region. A PetSafe quality control office in China assures that products are manufactured and inspected to the highest standards.
What's New at Radio Systems Corporation?
In addition to the flagship PetSafe brand, designed for the average pet owner, RSC has also launched a global SportDOG brand that serves the specific needs of hunters and their dogs, this growing product line features five long distance training devices for single or multiple dogs and a beeper locator collar that indicates when the hunting dog is on point even when it is out of sight. SportDOG products have earned high reviews from gun dog trainers and outdoor sport media and are increasingly I demand worldwide. Also new are two programmable feeders that dispense up to three meals at specific times and even play owner-recorded voice messages for pets.
Promoting the Human Animal/Bond Worldwide
RCS's commitment to promoting the human/animal bond reflects its goal of being the most trusted brand in pet management. The company partners with pet charities and other pet advocacy groups worldwide to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of electronic pet management devices in helping families and pets bond. "Just as we adapt our products to various global cultures, we are also sensitive to the varying regional attitudes about pet training methods and legislation that impacts the quality of life of pets," says van der Veen.
In Knoxville, RSC has built a state-of-the-art boarding and training facility to better understand and develop products for its ultimate customers – pets. PetSafe Village accommodates more than 100 dogs and 40 cats at peak capacity and even offers luxury suites with Web cams and direct speakerphone access.
"We want the pets to feel as safe and comfortable as if they were at home," says Boyd.
