Megazoo Austria has signed a cooperation agreement with the Sustainable Aquarium Industry Association (SAIA) in connection with a project to promote environmental conservation and sustainability in the ornamental fish trade. The project will bring together scientists, aquarium hobbyists and industry representatives.
Under the agreement, Megazoo will exclude from sale some species of marine ornamental fish that are unsuitable for aquariums or are species threatened with extinction. The initiative was launched at the end of 2015 with a halt on sales of Pallet doctor fish. SAIA experts will also give talks in all Megazoo stores on the sustainable selection and breeding of marine ornamental fish.
