MAXI ZOO''s new plans

Sep 3, 2015
MAXI ZOO welcomes a large range of barnyard products into its XXL shops. The French pet retailer’s XXL shops are some 1,200 to 1,400 m² in size. With 450 employees and €96 million of turnover, MAXI ZOO has ambitious plans to grow.

After seeing red figures for many years, the company took the decision to renew the product ranges, invest in staff training, curb its pricing policy and modify in-store merchandising.

Since 2013, 20 out of 72 stores have a new format, much different from the previous discount-store format. Three new stores are due in 2015 and 150 stores are scheduled to follow by 2020. Jan Wejbrandt, CEO of MAXI ZOO, reckons that the French market may eventually host up to 450 stores.
